Message of Director-ISM

As the most prestigious and pioneering higher education institute in the field of surveying, leveling and mapping in Sri Lanka, Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Diyatalawa (ISMD) is considered as one of the best institute in South Asia to produce world class surveying professionals who can compete with any surveying professionals in the world for both educationally and technically. Being the 20th Director of such admired institute, I am honored to lead such prestigious institute with dedicated and talented group of staff who are committed to excellence in the field of surveying and mapping.

I am proud to say that our institute has a well-deserved reputation for providing high-quality education and training to students from around the country. The entire academic activities at ISMD are designed to provide students with the best standard theoretical knowledge and latest practical skills necessary to succeed in their respective field. Further, degree programs offered at ISMD are carefully designed to suit the requirements of the constantly evolving demands of modern world. In keeping with its vision, “To be the focal point in Geoinformatics Education, Training and Research in the South Asian Region” we are performing our mandatory obligations while facing the professional challenges against the true mission of “Planning and Conducting Training Courses relating to Geoinformatics, Updating Educational Curriculums, Guidance in Developing Professional Capacity Building and Providing Technical Expertise and Consultancy Services”.

With long history and top teaching and training experiences ISMD had achieved many reputations in surveying and mapping field in Sri Lanka, the institute is now ready to the clamber up the ladder of broader field of Geo-Informatics to reach and acquire its due position as to be the best educational institute in Land Management and Geo-Informatics in the Asian region. The ISMD is fully geared to give its very best to all who enter the institute and hope they will give their best, back to the country towards its development after their graduation.
